Over the last two weekends, I’ve attended a youth community football tournament. It has restored my faith in soccer. Tough, clean, respectful! With limited resources, teams even shared jerseys with opposing teams. Odd boots were left around the pitch so that players could wear one boot on their striking foot.
The conditions were rough (Saipan rought), with sections of the pitch covered in stones and gravel. Some played barefoot on a surface that I’d think twice about parking my car on. One young man took a bad fall on the uneven surface and knocked himself clean out.
If there are any sports brand out there that would like to collaborate with ARTAID.WORLD, and make a huge difference in a small country, please get in touch. When these boys pulled on their jerseys they became men. They stood about two inches taller - and it was no surprise to see the two teams in the final had full kits.
