Friday was spent on Luyengo farm. Luyengo is 50% not for ‘profit’ and 50% privately owned. It was the first time i had heard of an initiative like this and in my opinion is a system that makes a lot of sense. The farm employs around 30 people and supplies to the local communities and large supermarkets. United Society and The Church of Ireland(Anglican) are the 50% ‘not for profit’ share holders and use profits to fund community projects trying to ease the affects of HIV/AIDS on the country.
